Chupa Chups

                                                                        LIFE LESS SERIOUS!

That's Chupa Chups' credo.

Enric Bernat founded the company in 1958 in Spain. In the early 1950's, Bernat had worked for an apple jam factory and had the idea to make lollipops from fruit flavors. He took over the company in 1958 and renamed it Chupa Chups (derived from the Spanish verb chupar, meaning "to suck") Bernat built the production machines and sold a striped bonbon on a wooden stick. As a result of the Spanish wood shortage years later, the sticks were changed to plastic.

The brand's current logo was designed in 1969 by artist Salvador Dali.

By 2003 the company was selling 4 billion Chupa Chups lollipops a year in 150 counties. Today, Chupa Chups has 2,000 employees; ninety percent of its sales are international.

And only 45 calories per pop!
